Welcome! The Annual Essay Contest for Children and Young People of African Descent encourages African children, aged 7 to 16 years, from across Africa and the African diaspora, to read, conduct research and express themselves on challenging historical and contemporary iss ues that affect people of African descent globally. The contest is open to African children in three age groups: 7 to 10.
Women On Writing now hosts two quarterly contests: one for fiction writers and one for nonfiction writers. We’ve hosted the flash fiction contest since 2006, and over the years, writers have asked us to open up an essay contest. So we are happy to add the essay contest to our offerings.
